Though NDA and UPA will have an equal vote share of 44 per cent, if the Mahagathbandhan is joined by Mehbooba Mufti, Mamata Banerjee, Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav, they are likely to trounce the Modi government at the Centre in 2019.

Bad news for NDA in 2019 even with support from KCR, Naveen Patnaik, AIADMK and Jagan Reddy: Mood of the Nation poll

Even if K Chandrasekhar Rao, Palaniswami, Jagan Reddy and Naveen Patnaik come together to lend support to the current NDA, the alliance will still fall short of the majority mark in front of the Mahagathbandhan. This is what the latest India Today-Karvy Insights Mood of the Nation poll has found.

According to the nationwide survey, the ruling NDA that won a whopping 336 seats in 2014, will drop down to 257 while the UPA with support from new allies will go up from 59 seats to touch the majority mark of 272 seats.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by itself had won more seats than the combined projection of NDA for 2019.
These predictions are valid if the polls are held right now.
The India Today-Karvy Insights Mood of the Nation poll is aimed at understanding the political pulse of the nation just months before the Lok Sabha election. A total of 13,179 people participated in the survey. (Read here about our methodology)
Other parties and Independents are projected to get about 14 seats and even if they all come together to help NDA, they would still fall short of the majority mark by 1.
Since the last elections in 2014, NDA that enjoys a comfortable majority has lost some of its key allies like Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP and Upendra Kushwaha’s RLSP.

The 543-member Lok Sabha has a majority mark of 272.
